Plant-Based Diet Nutrient Needs

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics issued a position stating that vegetarian and vegan diets – if properly planned – meet nutritional needs for all stages of life, writes Leslie Beck, RD, in The Globe and Mail. Beck recommends including plant-based omega-3s, such as canola oil, to possibly guard against Type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
