Conflicting information about saturated fat – namely that it won’t increase your risk of heart disease – is not supported by science, explains registered dietitian Katherine Brooking in the Huffington Post. The American Heart Association advises consuming 7 percent or less of total calories from saturated fat, she writes, so limit full-fat dairy products and “choose canola oil for its neutral flavor, high mono- and polyunsaturated fat and low saturated fat content.”
