Canola Oil and “Good” Omega-3 Fats

Citing research from the Food Information Council that indicates consumers are confused because of conflicting information about “bad” and “good” dietary fats, Consumer Health Digest tries to set the record straight. Canola oil is named as a source of the essential omega-3 fat, alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). Recommendations to increase intake of ALA include cooking with canola oil and using canola oil margarine as a spread. Prevention magazine would agree: tip #10 for eating healthy is to “Choose canola salad dressing” to boost consumption of ALA for heart health.
